27th September - Closing of the Green - Three rinks of triples played on the last game of our season, slightly spoiled by the constrant rain, but we had an enjoyable day, nonetheless. The Treasurer beat the Secretrary by a handful of shots, which put a smile on Alan Geddes' face - or was it the whiskey?

President Christine McKay and Secretary May Beveridge made the trophy presentations after the game.

That's another season over, but we have a big season ahead next year, as we are holding the Balfour Trophy at the club, as well as numerous County matches. We also have a contingent of Dollar bowlers playing indoor this season, so we'll report on their progress over the winter months.

It's our intention to hold some social evenings during the winter, which will be announced on the website once dates have been agreed.

24th September - EGM - The Extraoridary General Meeting was held at 7pm in the clubhouse to discuss the merits of joining the CASC system. Following a discussion amongst the members it was decided that, at this time, there was no benefit in joining the system and that we would continue as we are.

22nd September - Two Bowls Singles Final - The Cameron Trophy final was played between Alan Geddes and Ian Inglis, with Alan coming out on top. Congratulation to Alan and commiserations to Ian, who has not had the best three days of his bowling career!

21st September - Club Championship Trophy - The final of the club championship was a re-run of yesterday's Presidents Trophy final, with Davie Taylor chalking up another victory over Ian Inglis. This was Ian's 20th appearance in the final and only the first time that he has failed to lift the title. So congratulations to Davie Taylor, Dollar Bowling Club's new Champion!

20th September - Presidents Trophy - The final of the Presidents Single Trophy was played between Davie Taylorand Ian Inglis (The old one!). Both players played some superb bowls, but Davie was just too strong for Ian on the day. I'm sure you all join with me in offering our congratulations to Davie.

Match Cancellation - on 20th September - Friendly match with Sauchie Bowling club - The match between Sauchie and Dollar has been cancelled by Sauchie, as they couldn't raise a team. Thanks to the young man who drove to the club to let us know.

16th September - Rink Night - Rain stopped play! Due to the poor weather conditions, Greenkeeper, David Beveridge, announced that the green could not be played on, so the rink night had to be cancelled. This means that Davie Taylor can now not be beaten in the points Championship, so congratulations to Davie! (and tough luck Gordon!)

Upcoming Event - 24th September - Extraordinary General Meeting at 7pm - Due to changes in the licensing laws, it is necessary to make changes to the Club's Constitution. This cannot be achieved at the Half-yearly General Meeting, so an Extraodinary General Meeting has been called at 7pm on Wednesday, 24th September, 2008. The comittee would appreciate a good attendance.

Grouse Invitational Pairs Winners

14th September - Grouse Invitational Pairs- The sun shone brightly for us all day, as the Dollar bowlers, together with their invited guests, battled to win the Grouse Invitational pairs. A most enjoyable day was had by all, not just because we enjoyed the bowls and the banter, but also Adam's barbeque, which, as always, proved to be very popular. The burgers were supplied by MacDonald's restaurant in Dunfermline, so we would also extend our thanks to the burger chain, as well as to Adam Denney for feeding us all and keeping us going.

Kennie Young  from DBC and Christine Evans from Dunmore Bowling Club met John Kerr of DBC and his partner Alex Whyte of Alva Bowling Club in the final, which was a tighly faught contest that needed an extra end to find the winners, with Kennie and Christine coming out on top.

The beaten semi-finalists were Roy Lennon of DBC and Margaret Lennon of Alva South Bowling club and Dennis Fitzgerald and Stephen Gardiner, both of DBC.

Special thanks to Katie Moran of sponsors, Maxxium, who sponsored the event, particularly as she attended the event from ten o'clock in the morning to 6 o'clock in the evening, helping the day run smoothly.
